[edit] Introduction

JECoLi (Java Evolutionary Computation Library) implements the main metaheuristic optimization algorithms, using the Java programming language, with a special emphasis on Evolutionary Computation based methods.

This platform is highly flexible, allowing the use of the whole set of available algorithms and variants to any user defined problem.

The implementation also allows the full configuration of the methods, enabling the user to set desired values for all relevant parameters, while providing adequate default values.

JECoLi is mainly designed to provide support to developers with two distinct aims:

  • to develop optimization modules using the provided algorithms that can be included in other applications or systems;
  • to compare the performance of distinct approaches to challenging optimization tasks.

JECoLi has been and still is currently used in several research projects, involving both the benchmarking of different methods and being used in the development of distinct software applications.
